'Dark Paradaida' Mihrab Initial Necklace
A garden where earthly desire meets deeper emotion.
From the time of the Achaemenid Empire, the idea of an earthly paradise spread through Persian literature. Dark ‘Paridaida’, or ‘paradise’ in Old Persian, draws on satin nights spent in walled gardens within palatial grounds of both ancient Persia and Mughal India - torn between function and emotion. These gardens of Eden merged spiritual discovery with leisurely, visceral pleasures. In our offering, we’ve styled playful desire against the static, with jeweled flowers jumping like bursts of pastel light from inky lines of architectural structure - a portal into another world.
These reversible pendants are modern heirlooms made with traditional artistry, drawing inspiration from ancient islamic motifs, but displaying contemporary elegance and style.
Although each Roya pendant is unique, they all share the same symbolism. The traditional flower-motifs in enamel, based on the ancient indo-islamic symbols representing the fullness of life, celebrate the abundance of the natural world, and the vastness of potential waiting to be awakened within you.
